FAQ
Is it possible for me to customise the size and design of the Kumiko piece according to my preferences?
Of course! If you have your own concepts, please feel free to send us even a simple sketch. We will try our best to design and produce the piece according to your preferences. Please provide us with accurate outer dimensions so that we can ensure that the Kumiko piece fits perfectly.
What about the painting of Kumiko pieces?
We use carefully selected, knot-free wood for our Kumiko pieces. Traditional Kumiko pieces are left unpainted to allow the natural aging process and the unique characteristics of the wood to be appreciated. If you would like a special colouring, we recommend choosing wood that is already coloured, such as walnut or blackwood for a black-based color. Please let us know if you have any preferences for colour.
What kind of wood is used for Kumiko pieces?
Timber from coniferous trees such as basswood, cypress pine, and cedar is used for our Kumiko pieces. In Japan, traditional Kumiko pieces are made from hinoki cypress. If you prefer to use hinoki cypress, we can have it imported from Japan, but please note that additional shipping fees may apply. We may also use other woods such as walnut or blackwood to add a color accent to the piece.
Is it possible to order from any location?
Yes, you can place an order with us from anywhere in the world. Our production facilities are located in Melbourne, Australia, and Japan, and we can ship our products to any country. However, we only offer installation services in Melbourne, so we recommend finding a local installer to assist with installation if needed. When placing an order, please provide the exact measurements in millimetres. Please note that all payments are to be made in Australian dollars via bank transfer, regardless of where the order is placed from.
